Some 235 years ago, the residents of the New World grew weary of the self-perpetuating practices and the unabating arrogance of the tyrannical government that had repressed its citizens for years. Taxes and over-reaching edicts had pushed the people beyond their limits. Localized protest movements had spread throughout the region and discontent had risen to the point of action.
On this day, July 4th, in 1776, the leaders of the movement made a statement, a declaration, that in the course of human events, it is sometimes necessary to dissolve the political bands which have connected the people with their leadership. And a nation was born.
Happy Birthday, America!
As the citizens of this nation owe a great debt of gratitude to our founding fathers. We owe it to them continue to defend the freedoms that they fought so hard to win and to not take for granted the liberties that we enjoy.
If you know a soldier, an airman, a marine, or a sailor, today would be a great day to thank them for their service.
God Bless America!
