It is a sad commentary indeed, when we realize that nothing much has changed in the years since Reagan’s administration. If anything, things are worse now and there is no end in sight.

Sometimes doing the right thing is hard. Sometimes doing the right thing is unpopular. We tell our kids that.
But most politicians seem to be primarily concerned with getting re-elected. So doing the right thing, the hard thing, is not high on their list of goals.
Doing the things that earn them campaign donations, now that is another story. That, they can buy into.
